Meet the Blogger

My name is Ashley, and I've been involved in the human services field for many years, both as a client and a provider. I was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease in the winter of 2021. This presented some unique challenges with my already existing diagnosis of cerebral palsy. It has been on my mind for several years to start a blog. However, over the past three to four years, the more research I’ve done about Crohn’s disease alongside other physical conditions, the less helpful I’ve found the information. I hope that creating this blog will give others like me a safe space to share our experiences, get advice from each other, and give caregivers and family members helpful tips and tricks. I have been using service dogs since 2012 and have two canine companions. I am also proud to have my social work degree from UW Eau Claire and to be a licensed social worker in the state of Wisconsin.

My interests include advocacy, swimming, crocheting, reading, wheelchair-related sports, and anything related to service animal-related laws. I love watching romantic comedies and anything with Vin Diesel, Gerard Butler, or Shemar Moore. Regarding the taste of music, I enjoy listening to a bit of everything, but mostly country music. I am a massive fan of anything by Nicholas Sparks, but I also read other genres.

My future is still optimistic. My Crohn’s disease has not been put into remission yet, but I feel hopeful that we’re getting close to the right medication combination. Soon, I will be able to start reintegrating some of the foods and hobbies I feel like Crohn’s disease has caused me to put on hold for now. But for now, every day is an adventure, and I’m just along for the ride!
